My research for this project had me looking at animals that have become extinct. I was specifically looking around the time that the first third of the population were living in urban areas, which was predicted to be in the 1950s or 60s.
One of the species I came across was the St. Helena Darter dragonfly. Endemic to Saint Helena, this dragonfly is assumed to be extinct as the last sighting was in the nineteen sixties.
Given that the St. Helena darter is extinct I struggled to find good images of it, however I did find a postage stamp with an image of the dragonfly on it so I used that as a reference when drawing my stem and lowercase l.
When I was looking for photo references I used newer images of dragonflies that are closely related to the St. Helena Darter.
